Does it give legal advice or review contracts?
No. Lumi is an intake receptionist — it greets, screens the matter, schedules a consult, and routes to a licensed attorney. It never gives legal advice, never reviews or interprets a contract, never evaluates a matter or predicts an outcome, and answers only factual questions about your firm. The legal work stays with your attorneys.
How does the conflict check work?
Lumi captures the opposing business party's name and identifying details on the first call and records them with the intake, flagging a potential conflict for your team to review and clear. It doesn't decide whether a conflict exists — that's your firm's call — but it makes sure the information is gathered up front instead of surfacing after you've invested time.
What does it capture on a business matter?
Your intake, run conversationally: the matter type (formation, contracts, dispute/litigation, employment, IP, a deal), the company and the caller's role, the urgency or deadline, the opposing party for the conflict check, and whether it's an existing client. It qualifies against the matters your firm takes and routes the rest politely.
Does contacting the firm create an attorney-client relationship?
No, and Lumi says so in the language you choose. Contacting the firm through the intake line does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship, and the intake isn't privileged legal advice — representation begins with your engagement agreement and a licensed attorney.
Can it handle urgent, deadline-driven matters?
Yes. A deal closing this week or a demand-letter deadline is flagged as time-sensitive and escalated to the right attorney immediately, with the matter and the deadline captured — so it reaches a human fast instead of a voicemail.
Which systems does it write into?
It works on top of the tools business firms run — Clio Grow, Clio, MyCase, Lawmatics, and PracticePanther among them. It creates the contact, attaches the intake and conflict details, and books the consult. Your system stays the record; Lumi keeps it current. Using something else? Ask.
Is it compliant with attorney advertising and UPL rules?
Lumi is positioned strictly as reception and intake — it doesn't practice law, give legal advice, or form the attorney-client relationship. It won't guarantee outcomes or make unsubstantiated claims, and it surfaces the disclosures you configure. Your state bar's rules govern; the boundaries are yours to set.
How much does it cost for a business law firm?
Flat monthly pricing, sized to your call volume and the channels you switch on — not a per-minute meter. Solo and multi-attorney firms are scoped differently, so the honest answer depends on your setup. Book a demo, tell us your volume and case-management system, and we'll put a number in front of you.
